This is a nicely rounded shoulder bag with an integral pocket and handle. Seamlessly wet felted (no knitting or sewing) from soft merino fibre in a delicious golden pumpkin colour. It sits comfortably under your arm when worn on the shoulder. Very eyecatching and unusual.. I love this bag!

Inside is one large space (no dividers) with one useful pocket in the back for keeping keys / phone where you can quickly find them (pocket 4.5" deep x 6" wide). This pocket is seamlessly formed as part of the bag, I have felted a pretty, abstract design into the pocket.. which you only see when you go into the bag.

Closure is a brass magnetic snap fastner under the flap, each half of the snap has been stitched securely to felt 'patches' which I have in turn stitched to the bag.

Bag measurements:
13" (33cm) wide
11.5"(29cm) deep - not inc handles. WITH handles the drop is 19" (50cm)

The design was inspired by primitive art; stone carvings in Kyrgyzstan dating back about 2000 years showing ancient sheep - theres something so strong and primal about these images. And they seem to me a perfect image to translate into my felt - felt being the most ancient textile produced by man, with techniques which have changed little over the millenia. It was certainly something that the stone carvers would of been very familiar with!

Using dark chocolate brown merino fibre I have drawn 3 ancient sheep on this bag, 1 each on the front and back plus one on the flap. Both sides have swirls of slubby red yarn framing the sheep, and handdyed terracotta and brown silk cap adds texture and interest.

This is a seamless bag, formed in one whole piece over a peardrop-shaped resist. Part way through felting the resist is cut out, the opening and handle are formed and felting continues. The bag body and handle are one piece - they are not sewn on. The flap was sewn on after felting, with 5 paralel lines of machine stitching (this is both decorative and also stiffens and strengthens the area so it isn't floppy). When the bag was dry I stitched (with strong thread) the long edges of the handle together to form a 'tube' which I have steam pressed flat.. making a visually pleasing, strong and comfortable strap.

Merino felt is lovely and soft, smooth but with a delightfully pebbly texture. Even though this bag has been extremely well felted (so it is strong and sturdy) it still feels 'next to the skin' soft.

Easy to care for. I will send a care leaflet, but here are the basics:
Wool felt is naturally dirt & odour repellant, as such it doen't require washing very often - if ever.
If you do need to, handwash in warm water with woolwash / shampoo added, rinse thoroughly at same temperature, short SPIN ONLY in machine to remove excess water (or blot between 2 towels) pull back into shape and DRY NATURALLY.
NOT SUITABLE for washing machine / tumble drier.

I am happy to combine postage. Once the value of a package exceeds £50 GBP I send it via Airsure (where possible) and insured to cover the full value - this service is faster, tracked and has delivery confirmation. Airsure is not available for all parts of the world, if you are in one of the countries that I cannot use Airsure for I will send via Recorded Delivery, which will also be insured and require a signature upon receipt.
I do not profit from postage! If the cost of sending your combined package is less than you paid I will refund the difference (minus packaging charge).
