Sometimes the best solution to the guru bead for a mala is not to use one at all. These 25mm by 10mm column beads can be used as a Tesbih, which is the Islamic equivalent of a guru bead. It functions in the same way: you run both ends of the string of a completed mala up through the bead, tie off and add a charm or tassel. I sometimes use these in my malas, as an aesthetic variation or out of practical concerns. See http://www.etsy.com/listing/78958329/utterly-unique-108-dzi-bead-mala-with and http://www.etsy.com/listing/84522827/108-mala-in-multihued-agate.

These beads have been re-drilled to allow easier access for mala string. Price is for three beads.
