This a good example of what happens when old meets new. Up for sale is a vintage Post Office lock box door that has been re-tasked as a coin bank. This door, called the "Flying Eagle", was made around 1920 out of bronze and is mounted in a handcrafted solid walnut box.

The box incorporates old world dovetail joinery and a hand-rubbed clear finish that is only fitting for this important piece of Americana. The bottom has felt feet for protection and also contains the three-number combination. The door has been cleaned and is in perfect working order. However, as with all these vintage doors do show their age. This bank uses a #2 size door which is a little larger than the standard size #1. See the last picture for a comparison of size #1 and #2 side by side.

The box is topped off with a brass coin slot that details the official U.S. lock box designation and is 7 1/4” tall, 6 3/4” wide, and 5 1/4” deep.
