The Barquentine (alternatively barkentine) is a sailing vessel with three or more masts. The foremast is fitted with square sails and the main and mizzen masts are fitted with fore-and-aft sails. The Barquentine’s rigging plan allowed the ship to sail with a smaller crew, good performance before the wind and ability to sail close the wind. The Barquentine remained popular for merchants until the end of the 19th century.

This listing features my hand-carved, hand-made Barquentine model sailing ship. The hull is carved from 10”x1.75”x1.75” Basswood and stained with Cherry Danish Oil. The hull is finished with natural shellac. The sails are cut from Basswood and finished with natural Danish Oil.
The rigging is completed with dark brown button thread and brass nails. The display base is made from Basswood and finished with shellac.

This hand crafted model sailing ship will make a great display on any bookcase, desk, or shelf.

*Please not in photo #3 that there is a dark line stain on the sail.
