Oya lace is one of many wonders of the handcraft world in Turkey. There are more that 6 types of Oya lace, the most extravagant being that using just a sewing needle. Young girls in Turkey are taught how to crochet Oya to adorn the scarves that they will wear when they get married. Today however, Oya lace has become more popular and many people are taking an interest to it. Not only can you wear an Oya scarf on your head, you may use it as a neck scarf, a table cloth, or just have it as part of your collection!

This oya scarf is one of the most lovely scarves I've made. This oya flower is known as katmer cicegi and was a pleasure to crochet. I used nylon thread in green blue yellow and dark mauve.
