This pair of vintage Japanese geta--wood platform thong sandals, worn to keep traditional clothing off the ground. Circa 1940s. They have wooden soles and two blocks of wood on the middle portion of the shoes. The front has a metal piece on the bottom. The straps are made of a velvet one and a unusual type of leather. The bottom has 7 marked on them. I wear a 7 and they look to be long enough. I did not try them on because they are unusual and collectible. I believe they might be difficult to walk in. Definately Oriental looking.

The leather straps are a bit crackled looking. One of the metal bulbs underneath is dented. They are a bit tattered, but good considering the age. Not sure they would hold up to actually wear, but they seem secure. Great collectible to be displayed.
