I made this tea bowl on the potters wheel out of a recycled red stoneware clay. While on the wheel, I painted it with white porcelain slip, heated up the outside so it dried on the surface, then stretched it out to make a crackled earthy texture. None of the cracks go through all the way, and it is fully functional.

Approximately 3 inches tall by 5.5 inches diameter. The inside is smooth and free of texture. It feels quite nice in the hands, like holding a special rock, and you can drink out of it.

It is glazed yellow inside, and iron tan that reveals the contrast between the red clay and the porcelain slip on the outside.

Chawan, Tea Bowl of the Rugged Earth, Wabi Sabi Textured
