Description

Here is the magnificent Winter Palace in St. Petersburg Russia as it stood in the year 1890.

Russia was an entirely different world 127 years ago. There were still no automobiles, electricity was still in it's infancy and photography was a relatively new and very exciting invention. For the very wealthy, there were lavish picture books for people to gaze upon... exotic and wonderful far off places around the globe; like the book this delightful 8.5" x 11" illustrated plate came from.

Matted, framed and displayed as a galley grouping, these lovely antique photo prints are simply spectacular. (Please note that the framed examples in the last two photos are to show how this might look when it's matted and framed. Your print will come unmatted and unframed.)

Surrender Dorothy offers a non-stop jaw-dropping cornucopia of frame-worthy antique and vintage prints, drawings, sketches, plans, lithos, engravings, posters, maps, charts and illustrations of all kinds to adorn every room in your happy home. Terrific finds to fancy up your workplace too.

Our entire inventory moves in and out of here very quickly and fresh selections are added each day, Please be sure to bookmark our shop and check back to visit us often so you don't miss our latest discoveries.

I'll send this beauty to you First Class Mail by way of those nice folks at the USPS packed flat and protected in a rigid mailer.

The Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia, was from 1732 to 1917 the official residence of the Russian Tsars. It is situated between the Palace Embankment and the Palace Square adjacent to the site of Peter the Great's original Winter Palace.
The present and fourth Winter Palace was built and altered almost continuously between the late 1730s and 1837 when it was severely damaged by fire and immediately rebuilt. The storming of the palace in 1917 became an iconic symbol of the Russian Revolution.
The palace was constructed on a monumental scale that was intended to reflect the might and power of Imperial Russia. From the palace, the Tsar and autocrat of all the Russias ruled over 22,400,000 square kilometres (8,600,000 sq mi) (almost 1/6 of the Earth's landmass) and 176.4 million subjects.
The Winter Palace was designed by many architects, most notably Bartolomeo Rastrelli, in what came to be known as the Elizabethan Baroque style; the green-and-white palace has the shape of an elongated rectangle. It has been calculated that the palace possesses 1,786 doors, 1,945 windows, 1,500 rooms and 117 staircases. Its principal façade is 500 ft (150 m) long and 100 ft (30 m) high.
The rebuilding of 1837 left the exterior unchanged, but large parts of the interior were redesigned in a variety of tastes and styles, leading the palace to be described as a "19th-century palace inspired by a model in Rococo style.

Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
We prefer PayPal as it's the fastest and safest method.
Cashier's Checks and Money Orders are okay too but only if they are received within four days of your order, otherwise we'll cancel the order and put the item back up for sale.

We BEG you guys, Please... If your Etsy Address and PayPal Addresses are different, please please let us know where you would like us to send your package. We have a real talent for choosing the wrong one.

Returns & exchanges

Returns
We are happy to accept returns in good condition in the original packaging shipped within 48 hours as exchanges only and you agree to pay postage both ways.

Damages In The US Mail.
They happen sometimes.
Although we carefully wrap our vintage breakables in tons of bubblewrap and tons of padding and pack them in sturdy shipping boxes, damages still sometimes happen. *sigh*
Please tell us about damaged goods ASAP. Photograph the damages and send photos to us so that we can work it out with USPS.

Shipping policies

We ship by way of the United States Postal Service only.
Yes, FedEx and UPS are a little bit cheaper, but we find them to be very brutal with our delicates and breakables, so we refuse to play with them.

International Orders
The answer is YES we do ship internationally. Please just ask! There are many shipping destinations on this planet and each one is a slightly different price.

Additional policies

While it is considered customary for many antique and vintage shops to consider offers and dicker prices, our shop simply doesn't.
We've priced our merchandise as fairly as humanly possible. Please don't ask us to haggle.
Thank you.
