I love the Etsy Beadweaver's Team! Every month, the winner of a previous "challenge" can choose the next Challenge Theme, and for April, the theme is "ONLY SEED BEADS." No crystals, no gemstones, no pre-made components....and OH what a challenge this was!

My initial conclusion was that I could create something casual...then my thought process moved into "like jeans and a T-shirt" kind of casual....then segued into "blue jeans and a leather belt" kind of casual.... THEN the real work started (lol).

Figuring out how to weave buttons and grommets was the really tough part, but I did it! Along with belt loops and a blue mixture of seed beads to suggest faded denim, there is nothing in this cuff but seed beads. I used largish size 6s, 8s, Czech 11s, Delica 11s and tiny 15s.

How to close this cuff, you ask?? Good question....On the inside of the cuff, there is a small blue button woven from 15s, and a button hole iin the other end of the main cuff body (see pic #4). You button that first. Then, just like you are sliding a belt through your favorite pair of jeans, you slide the beadwoven "belt" through the beltloops....then loop the belt end over the "metal" button on the outside of the cuff!

Anyway, this is definitely a one-of-a-kind cuff. I do use other components in my beadweaving usually, but I have to say that THIS challenge was one of the best ever! I now know how to make a button if I run out of my glass ones!

More details on how this was made: the body was loom-woven; the solid blue edge is brick-stitch; the belt loops are peyote stitch; the belt is herringbone stitch; the tapering ends are square stitch; the grommets are daisy chain (modified somewhat); and, believe it or not, those round buttons are woven with square stitch, and the button "posts" are size 6 seed bead ladder stitch. :)

Thank you for looking at this piece, and I hope you enjoyed reading the description of how this was done.

Dimensions: Cuff is 2" wide and 17" long. When it is buttoned and wrapped it will fit a 7 to 8 inch wrist (or smaller).
