Go on, put on your peg-leg and climb aboard:

The tiniest three-mast ship ever, detailed with rigging and sails as well as my tiny brush could manage. All painted in rich oil in my equally tiny studio. There's a black & white ship sailing a churning white sea, with a tiny jolly roger topper. No doubt there's buried treasure on that island back there! The background is a sort of grey-green-sage oil enamel, which gives the whole piece a very ominous and moody feel. One could make up gobs of bedtime stories just lookin' at it.

Each piece is photographed before posting, so the one depicted in the pictures is precisely what this listing is for. The painting is built up over many days, allowing first the background and then the layers to dry as details and colors are added. It's durable and water-resistant.

MATERIAL:
The locket is two-tone brass and comes from vintage stock, so each piece has its own bit of natural tarnish. The diameter of the sphere is 18 mm - same as a dime.
Many people have told me they prefer to wear them closed and keep the painting a secret, though I love to wear them open on display. Either way they're quite magnetic. The chain is raw brass which will oxidize to a deep vintage gold over time (don't worrry, it doesn't mark skin or clothes). It measures 20" (50.8 centimeters), and is closed with a lobster clasp.

SHIPPING:
Each locket comes in its very own decorative tin (surprise!), bedded in tissue paper and tucked in an envelope tied with a colored ribbon. Padded kraft envelopes will keep it snug and safe. Shipping is first class with delivery confirmation (tracking) for domestic packages, and first class with a customs form for international. I ship 2-3 days a week, to get orders out promptly.
