The Beacon Introductory Second Reader, Animal Folk Tales. This is written by James H. Fassett with Illustrations by Charles Copeland. Published by Ginn & Co., NY 1916. 160 pages. This is a second grade reader to improve a childs phonetics. Phonetic tables included.

This book has been well used by two children in the same family. Names are written in pencil in the book as well as words they were working on and other various marks. Edge tears, too. Water stains on some pages. This is definitely a vintage book with lots of character. The cover also is well worn tho still intact.

It is an excellent look into methodology that works when teaching students how to read. I loved the cute tales. This is a second grade reader and it shows the higher levels of students of yesteryear.

Great antique book for your collection.
