Precious, Small INKWELL - probably from the Victorian Era - maybe around 1900's (?) is so tiny and charming !!

This must have been a lady's inkwell - because the embossed metal lid -( which drapes down onto the glass inkwell ) - has a TINY CHERUB napping among what looks to be vines or flora and a cartouche.
This metal lid can slide off the glass - but is very securely pressed onto the glass and does not
rattle around. I have left it in place and not tried to take it off !
I'm not sure what the metal is - but believe it to be Brass. It has a Brass coloring .

The glass of this small inkwell has turned slightly an amethyst color which is from age and the oxidation of old glass. This makes it so beautiful and charming - and different !
You can see the old swirly lines of the blown glass in the last photo.
The bottom of the glass inkwell has a wonderful pressed glass bubble-grid pattern which can be seen through the inkwell as it sits upright !

Overall, it is in good shape considering its age ! - no eaten -through corrosion - although there is some discoloration around the rim of the metal opening to the inkwell. This probably could be polished out. There are no cracks or breaks ! The hinge of the lid is in very good shape - works just fine - with no "sprains".
Just a very charming, small inkwell !

This little beauty measures approximately 2 1/4 inches high - and approximately 1 1/2 inches square.

This one is part of my own collection of inkwells - which I have collected over many years !
It's time to let someone else enjoy some of them !!

If you have questions, please feel free to ask me - before you buy !

Your little Cherub Inkwell will be well packed and insured before she leaves me !
