... 30" long rack
... Colorado sourced Beetle Kill pine

The simple, primitive style of this coat rack could grace the walls of a French farmhouse in Provence or a cowboy bunkhouse in Texas. The wooden hooks are dadoed into the back for strength and interest. I added the detail on the ends for style. Overall dimensions: 30" long x 7" high and 4" out from the wall.

In one of my favorite French design books I found a charming coat rack with interesting curved hooks made of wood, which is not typical. That was my inspiration for this coat rack.

I think the blues and yellows found naturally in Beetle Kill Pine compliment the French design. The natural colors and distress that are created in the Beetle Kill could never be duplicated. When I constructed the rack, I selected the boards for color arrangement and to show off the worm holes which I purposely did not fill.

The rack is 100% Colorado-sourced, beetle kill pine. Accessories not included.

WHAT IS BEETLE KILL PINE? Mountain pine beetles affect pine trees by laying eggs under the bark. The beetles introduce blue stain fungus into the sapwood that prevents the tree from repelling and killing the attacking beetles with tree pitch flow. The fungus also blocks water and nutrient transport within the tree. The joint action of larval feeding and fungal colonization kills the host tree within a few weeks of successful attack. (The fungus and feeding by the larvae girdles the tree, cutting off the flow of water and nutrients). The tree is dying or dead, and the beetles have moved to another tree. Fortunately, the blue stain fungus has no effect on the wood’s strength properties.

All of our products are produced from logs that have reached Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC). That means it is stable and will not continue to change (the checking or cracking) in a controlled environment like the inside your home.
