Why have only one front and a plain back side when you can have two "fronts"?! I love the way the colors in these upcycled pieces work with the russet velvet fabric so instead of making hard choices I just decorated both sides of this 14'' X 12 1/2'' purse. You can carry it showing whatever side matches your mood. The ruched strap is 26'' long and hangs down about 11'' below the shoulder when worn as pictured. It fits under your elbow. Everything is soft so it feels nice. The cream linen side with the deep rose embroidered flowers was salvaged from a Victorian era pillow cover. The peach crochet lace square on the other side is 1920s vintage. The three cream medallions and the ecru buttons are even older. Bits of the antique lace come from a Paris flea market. The rich velvet that forms the body of the purse is from the estate sale of an interior decorator. The 1960 vintage taupe satin lining has two pockets trimmed with antique lace -- Paris again. A loop and an antique shell button hold the top closed. All the decorative work is hand-stitched. Lovely gift for someone -- maybe yourself!
