This used knitting machine was manufactured in Japan and is ready for a new owner. Singer Memo-Matic Model SK 360/ Serial Number 452082 from the 1980’s era (known also as Silver Reed). It’s been cleaned, has a new sponge needle retainer bar and has been knit–tested. It’s in great condition and is a great buy for a knitting machine – the sk360 model is considered the ‘work horse’ for knitting. I have one of my own and love it!

FEATURES of this machine are:

1.Built in Accessory Box with these items-
Clamp (2)
Claw Weight (2)
Ravel Cord
Gauge Scale (green)Scale Set, Stitch Scale (7), Centre Scale (6) for use with Knit Contour patterns

Transfer Tools (3) 1x2, 1x3, 2x3
Double-eye needle
Tappet tool
Crochet Hook
Card Snap (4 )
Point Cam M 2 each of Left and Right
Yarn Separator (4)

Cleaning Brush
Auxiliary Feeding Cam

2. Built in Knit Contour (Radar) – patterning feature which uses the Pattern Paper and gauge scales to make sweaters, pants, skirts, baby items, etc.

3.Standard gauge 4.5mm needle spacing- uses lighter weight yarns or with every-other-needle in work it can take sport weight yarn.

4.Built in Pattern card panel – uses 24 stitch (repeatable designing) Plastic punch cards with designs make it easy to make Fairisle (knit-in) designs, tuck, slip stich, weaving patterns are all as easy as setting the dial and using a punch card.

5 .Row Counter
6. Metal bed (unlike the plastic, less-expensive models minimizes wear and tear)
7. Main carriage
8. Tension Rod - holds the yarn

9.Additional materials included are:
a.Three manuals – some markings by former owner are on the manuals. (Operation Manual for Model 360/260), Pattern Book – shows the designs made with the plastic punch cards, Knitting Manual – directions for using the knit contour & making garments)
b. Pattern Paper – guidelines for the various sizes to make sweaters, pants, skirts, more.
c. 20 plastic punch cards

The knitting machine comes in its own carry case that holds most of the items. The manuals, plastic cards and paper patterns are not housed in the carry case.

The manuals can get you started knitting and online there are lots of tutorials and knitting machine support groups on Yahoo Groups.

Some of the information in the manuals include:
KNITTING MANUAL-Taking a Tension/ Setting the Knit Contour/ Knitting Techniques – fully fashioned decrease & increasing, partial knitting, hold, mock rib, hemming, trimming, button holes, etc.
OPERATION MANUAL-Description of components & parts of the machine,/ Setting up the Knitter/ Pattern Knitting – Fair Isle, slip stitch, tuck stitch, Punch lace, Weaving, platting, single motif / Maintenance / Helpful Hints, etc.

There is discoloration of the plastic and denting on the carry case, but these minor issues do not impact the performance of the knitting machine.

If you’ve been wanting to purchase a knitting machine, this would be a great buy and value.
