Spun as an art yarn using Julie's Sailboat handpainted roving spun as a slub yarn and plied with a mahogany wool boucle. Larger skein, 70+ yards, 3.5 oz

This colorway was originally inspired by a wonderful customer (Julie), who sent in a photo of this great watercolor print. Deep lapis lazuli sea, sapphire blue sky, charcoal clouds, cream sail boat with mahogany rigging and woodwork, and all of the shades in between. Very handsome!

Each skein of yarn is a labor of love. Recycled or local roving is hand painted with low acid dyes, steamed, and cooled for 24 hours to ensure colorfast yarn and less environmental impact as no dye is being washed down the drain. The roving is drafted and spun on my dreamy Schacht Matchless wheel, wound onto the niddy noddy and fashioned into a skein. Next, I soak the skein of yarn in a spring water rinse. At this point the wet skein is blocked (dried with weights or on a yarn blocker to remove overtwist) and finally stored, awaiting a new home.
