Made this hard-to-find Breeze King is one of the only flip-top style lighters made by the the Evans Case Company of Attleborough, MA. Better known for their elegant lighters and fashion accessories, this automatic windproof pocket lighter was a departure from Evans' signature designs -- and undoubtedly an attempt to capitalize on the increasing popularity of Zippos. But in true Evans fashion, their Breeze King is an "automatic" flip-top lighter -- the only of its kind I've seen. Here's a description I found in a vintage Evans ad:

"Evans presents the Breeze King revolutionary new windlighter with Evan exclusive 'Automatic Lighting Action.' Just flick it open, press the lever and it's lit. Surefire in the strongest wind. Yours in an attractive variety of styles and prices."

This is the first Breeze King I've worked on and I've really enjoyed restoring it to full working order. I've fully disassembled and cleaned its firing mechanism, unblocked the flint chamber, adjusted the clutch, trimmed and tested the original wick, cleaned the windguard inside and out, and have brought this Evans back to good working order. It will be shipped with a flint, without fluid. (If you plan to only display this lighter, please remove the flint so it does not deteriorate and become re-impacted over time.)

The original chrome plating on its lid had largely flaked away from age, so I've hand polished it down to the brass base metal. I really like the way the smooth, polished brass top now warmly contrasts with the ribbed, factory-original chrome plating on the lighter body. This Breeze King has no major scratches dents or ding and is in great looking condition. I've provided high quality photos to offer the best preview of this lighter. Please take a look and feel free to ask any questions.
