This is a MADE -TO-ORDER item. CONTACT ME BEFORE ORDERING THIS BIRDHOUSE. The version I will make for you may will be subject to the inherent variations of working with reclaimed materials, e.g., color and texture of wood and metal. See my shop message for the current general production schedule. Contact me and I will let you know what material differences you may expect and a more precise schedule for delivering your birdhouse. Following is the original description:

A pretty birdhouse in terms of its egg shape and color. As in the case of all my birdhouses, this one conforms, within reason (given its egg shape!), to ornithological correctness in terms of interior space and things like portal height, clean-out hatch, internal ladder for fledglings, drainage and ventilation (beneath the roof there are two unseen ventilation holes on each side in addition to those on the back of the birdhouse), and a metal-covered portal. It is designed to be hung). The portal size accommodates most common backyard small cavity-nesting birds, such as finches, chickadees, wrens, nuthatches, warblers, and titmice, while the metal portal protector discourages larger birds and predators from enlarging the entrance. It is made of barn wood from an early 20th-century barn near Overbrook, KS and beautifully weathered tin roofing from a chicken coop in Lawrence, KS and a barn in Platte County, MO. Both the roof and body are a frame of ¾-inch-thick barn wood beneath the metal. This is important in terms of providing insulation from the both heat and cold. Environmentally friendly (low-VOC, water-based) grey and red stains have been used on parts of the birdhouse, and all wood and metal have been given two coats of a VOC-less polymer sealer. The materials for all of my birdhouses are carefully chosen among other things for their structural integrity.

Printed advice and instructions for hanging this birdhouse are included. See my other birdhouses at http://roundhouseworks.etsy.com. Visit my Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/roundhouseworks.
