I've always been a fan of Legos, going as far back as I'm able to remember.
I've always built things with them. I've got a decent sized collection of blocks and mini figures in my house to this day. I used to fantasize about being a Lego designer and working for the company. I even tried to make stop motion videos with Legos on several occasions in my younger years.
Yet somehow, this is the only drawing I've ever done with Legos as the subject matter, and it took an illustration class to get it out of me. This piece was the first project in the first college level illustration class I ever took. The assignment was something about taking something small with lots of small details and blowing it up to be a highly detailed pen and ink rendering.
This is one of the many mini figures from my private collection, drawn to appear life size in the high contrast style I love oh so much.

The prints are 11" x 17" on thick, glossy photo style paper.
