This is a fabulous and traditional antique French stoneware cruche or confit pot dating to the 19th century. It has a dulled yellow glaze to the upper half and this color is particular to the south-west region of France, which is where I live, on the Spanish-French pyrenean border.. This is an authentic pot and over 100 years old, so it has signs of usure, a few notches here and there but the glaze is in good condition. Would make a wonderful jardiniere container for flowers. Full of traditional rustic French charm!!

We used these jars for storing meat products such as duck, chicken and pork. The meat would be cooked and then put in the jars.
