This listing is for a small rustic wooden spoon made from Hackberry wood. This spoon displays warm caramel tones as well as some of the inky coloration caused as wood spalts. It is hand carved and shows the tool marks and irregularities of a handcrafted product.

You are buying this exact item. It is 9" overall length and the bowl is 2-1/2" x 1-1/2". It has been hand sanded for a nice smooth finish.

The American Hackberry is a native North American tree and is known for it's rich butter and caramel coloring and its beautul woodgrain patterns. Spalted Hackberry displays inky lines and warm coloration.

This wood came from a neighbor who was clearing some timber to add more farmable acres to his land. I hate it when they do that, but he let us come in and salvage the good logs before pushing the rest into a pile to burn.

It's been hand rubbed with several coats of a foodsafe mixture of beeswax and mineral oil. Hand wash and dry, every couple of months wipe it down with some mineral oil and it will last a lifetime.
