In 1912 The Tindeco Company patented a series of 6 different tobacco tins for several different companies which were American Tobacco, Red Indian, dixie Queen Mayo, and U.S. Marine.

On the back of these litho tins, each company had their logoed pack of cigarrettes/cigars. Each tin container contain one pound of tobacco inside.

The original six characters were The Satisfied Customer, (known as the Businessman when reporduced) The Store Keeper, The Singing Waiter, (known as just the Singer) Mammy, The Dutchman, (known as The Cowboy) and Scotland Yard.

Here is a repro of The Chef. Produced in 1980 by Bristol Ware of Burlington, NJ. A Division of Chein Industries. Although repro may not quite be correct. I am not sure if a chef was ever patented in 1912 - so it may be their own design?

His litho paint is bright and colorful. But he is not without some flaws. There is some paint wear/loss at the very bottom around the table rim, and some to the back of his head which is not visible on display . A slight ding in his head as well as a little rust along the seam. And a couple of minor scratches. But after all these inflictions he still looks pretty good. I would say expected vintage use. The interior is clean and rust free. Please refer to the photos.

He stands 5 inches tall without his head/lid and 7 1/4 inches tall altogether. He is approximately 7 inches around.

Shipping is $4.50 First Class Mail - US Continental. All others please email me your country of origin for an actual shipping cost quote.

I also have the 1981 Mrs. Claus Tin and can combine the shiipping if interested.

Please feel free to ask any questions or request additional photos. I will be happy to email clear, close up photos of any flaws or inflictions described in the listing.
