I will be on sabbatical until Sept. 21 so that I can restock my inventory for a fall art fair (Art Westport 2015, Kansas City). I am not using Etsy's vacation mode because I want my birdhouses to show up in search results and to be available for purchase by anyone who is willing to wait until after September 21 to receive a birdhouse. I will create birdhouses in the order in which the Etsy orders come in. Please check back here from time to time to see what the projected date of shipping will be. Presently that date is Oct. 8, 2015. Thank you for your interest and please come back.

This is a MADE -TO-ORDER item. CONTACT ME BEFORE ORDERING THIS BIRDHOUSE. The version I will make for you may will be subject to the inherent variations of working with reclaimed materials, e.g., color and texture of wood and metal. Note variations in the roof color and design in the 5th photo above. See my shop message for the current general production schedule. Contact me and I will let you know what material differences you may expect and a more precise schedule for delivering your birdhouse. Following is the original description:

Like all of my birdhouses, this one may complement your home's interior decor as an art object, particularly in this case if you like a combination of arts and crafts and vintage materials. It is also a functional, outdoor birdhouse and can accommodate most common backyard small cavity-nesting birds, such as finches, chickadees, wrens, nuthatches, warblers, and titmice, while the copper portal protector discourages larger birds and predators from enlarging the entrance. It has a rear clean-out hatch, copper-lined ventilation holes on three sides and a drain hole in the floor, more ventilation holes beneath the roof, and notches on the inside front wall to aid fledglings as they exit the nest. It is made from old barnwood from a barns built in Kansas and Missouri in the early 20th century. As the photos indicate, some of the wood shows original red barn paint. The roof is made of weathered metal roofing and tin battens from another farm building in Lawrence, KS. All materials are carefully selected for their structural integrity. All of the roofs for my birdhouses are waterproof.

This birdhouse may be mounted on a flat surface (post or pole) or hung, depending on the design you prefer. Printed advice and instructions for mounting, hanging and locating are included.
