Here is a very cute vintage tea towel, designed by Louise Fougstedt and made in Sweden, circa 1950s-60s. It's titled "Det var en gång tre glada möss" which translates to "Once upon a time, there were three happy mice". I've seen a lot of great midcentury textiles, but this one tops them all! Look at their little heart noses -- so sweet! I love the colorful, whimsical, fun design ♥

I found this at an estate sale, hanging on a wall in a children's playroom filled with vintage books & toys. I'm sure it was never actually used as a towel since the fabric still has a new-ish crisp feel and the colors are bright and fantastic. It was made by Almedahls, a company that has made Scandinavian textiles since 1846. They still reproduce some vintage designs from the 50s and 60s, but this towel is a true vintage original, never reproduced, and highly collectible.

Now there are two pinholes on the upper corners where it was hung and some ever-so-slight age-related discoloration on the middle mouse's ears, barely worth mentioning but there you have it -- I didn't see it until I was looking at the close-up picture. Also I see what looks like a couple scratches on the picture which I think is just a manufacturer's flaw. All in all, it's in excellent condition ♥

measures 17" x 20" (43 x 51cm)
