WPI (Wraps Per inch)
A WPI Tool is a handy device for fiber enthusiasts. WPI is being used by designers and yarn manufacturers when specifying their designs or yarn characteristics. If two yarns have the same WPI they can be exchanged within a given pattern.

This WPI Guide:
- Is made out of Walnut and has a Lacquer finish.
- Measures 4.5" in length x 2" wide and 3/8" thick.
- Has the markings carved into the wood so they will not wear off.
- Has an ergonomic design and easy to hang or slip into a pocket.
- Is made in the USA.

To use this guide:
Wrap smoothly, with the yarn touching but not too tight. Once you've wrapped, calculate your number of wraps per inch (or WPI).

WPI Info:
18 or more wpi - Lace weight
16 wpi - Fingering weight
14 wpi - Sport weight
12 wpi - Worsted weight
10 wpi - Bulky
8 or less wpi - Very bulky

If you spin:
Lace Weight Yarn {18 or more WPI} 163 + yds/ounce
Fingering Weight Yarn {16 WPI} 119 to 150 yds/ounce
Sport Weight Yarn {14 WPI} 75 to 113 yds/ounce
Worsted Weight Yarn {12 WPI} 56 to 75 yds/ounce
Bulky Yarn {10 WPI} 38 to 50 yds/ounce
Very Bulky Yarn {8 or less WPI} 25 to 31 yds/ounce
