The romantic design of this antique Art Nouveau button celebrates a movement deeply influenced by the sinuous curves and organic beauty of nature. I found this wonderfully shaped button (*not* a stamping, beautifully forged) in Paris as part of a collection of antique French metal buttons, and it features a highly detailed design of a beautifully dressed woman with upswept hair topped off with a flower.

Made from a bronze colored metal with original patina acquired naturally through the decades of the past century, it measures approx. 1 1/4" in diameter. The patina reflects bits of bronze, copper, etc... depending on the angle you look at it.

This lovely button was cast by hand in France, an epicenter of the Art Nouveau movement, where the Bohemian Czech artist Alphonse Mucha grew increasingly popular for his lavish illustrations... This piece would be wonderful for a collector of unique vintage and antique buttons, sewing ephemera, or the Art Nouveau style popular in the Victorian and Edwardian era. The looped shank on the reverse of the button is in great shape, so it could most certainly be sewn and used as a beautiful decorative accent on a hat, cuff, lapel, choker, or any other of a variety of uses.
