Here is a mid-century couple - made by the Brayton Laguna Pottery company of California. These were manufactured in 1952 and represent a Pennsylvania Dutch couple which was very popular at the time. These are part of the Webton Ware Line. I have seen these labeled as African American, but these were glazed and modeled in a primitive, folk art way, not necessarily African.
The glazes are crackle shiny white glaze with a contrast of dark brown matte glaze. They have handpainted yellows and greens and reds. You can see that the designs are Pennsylvania Dutch in style. Marked on the bottoms and signed by the artist/decorator. Great for a holiday centerpiece, also!

Measurements are: woman - 5 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches in diameter
man - 5 1/2 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches by 1 5/8 inches.

Condition is very good. There are a few rubs here and there around the bottoms, nothing that shows. The woman has a salt hole that is plugged up with glaze from the factory. No chips, cracks, repairs, hairlines, stains, odors. The corks are missing, and the woman has a partial cork rattling around inside, so technically, she is a rattle :)
