Scarce 1920’s DECO BALSA WOOD MILLINERY CLOCHE CROWN Block Form Mold

As the pictures indicate it is well-worn, but still structurally sound. The form is asymmetrical in the head hugging cranial shape of the period.

There is no way to simulate the character that 1000’s of milliners’ tasks convey to this ruggedly handsome primitive artifact.

It is sold ‘as is’ as a One-Of-A-Kind Sculptural Objet. The potential is there for restoration.
The easiest and least invasive way to prep for use would be to pad the entire block with a
thin felt hood.

The simple elegance of this form is no deterrent to creativity. Quite the contrary, it provided a blank palette from which endless extravagant [DECO]orative designs emerged at milliners’ capable hands.

Headsize: Circumference 23”, 6’’ tall without attached band block and stand; 10 1/2" with both.

Marks: Faint (on band block only) '900', '23 1/2' (as stated above the actual circumference of the block is 23”).

**The wood stand (included) is carefully selected to add stature, facilitate display-ability and enhance the Profile, Color and Size of the Block**.

For Future Reference: Other blocks and flanges from our extensive collection will be listed as time permits.
