Calcite
a beautiful honey yellow starburst
These calcites from Florida grow in fossil clam shells, you can see the remains of the clam shell on the back (photo 3&4) and provides a very nice contrast to the honey yellow calcite
The fossil clam is Mercenaria permagna - late Pliocene
The now closed location is Rucks Pit, Okeechobee Co., Florida

2 inches x 1 inch x .5 inches
22 grams
Perfect for wire wrapping, but be careful. Calcite is soft and you will need not to exert too much pressure while working. The matrix could probably be nipped off with needle nose pliers.
