Alligator Bag, c. 1940
Alligator skin, leather interior
Provenance: Made in Cuba, found in Washington

Chic, confident, quirky, slightly disturbing--this is where fashion stops being just function and becomes art. This is the most exceptional of these bags I have ever seen--a fully stuffed, 3D alligator graces the front of this long, slim bag, and a beautiful specimen he is, with red-pupil glass eyes, fully intact teeth, and a wonderful expression. Absolutely perfect.

Snap closure at front flap. Zip pocket divides interior. 1 snap pocket, 2 patch pockets, and built-in mirror at interior. Leather interior. Snakeskin-backed 'gator skin handle.

Condition:
Excellent. There is some cracking to his left elbow; repaired and pictured. Otherwise pristine.

Sizing:
12.5" wide by 7.5" high by 1" deep
9" strap drop
