Lino Print - Silvery Moon

Moths in all their finery dancing by the light of the silvery moon. The colours of moths wings are normally so subtle and then suddenly you see one with a splash of brightness and it's so surprising.....and, of course, they always "dance" by the light of the moon!

From a tiny drawing in a sketchbook came this pair of moths and the lino cut that followed. I've put the drawing in with the various pictures to show how it came about. Printing it was very complicated because there are so many colours and each colour requires a separate printing with drying times between but with lockdown and time on my hands I got all the colours done.

The print measures 16" x 12" (405mm x 300mm) to the edges of the printed surface and about 20" x 16" to the edges of the paper. It's printed with oil based inks on a smooth velum type paper.
It is a signed limited edition of 25, all printed by me and comes wrapped in acid free tissue and in a card tube.

I've photographed the print with a yellow pencil in the second image to give an idea of its size.
