Sugar Skulls are made for the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead to remember and honor those who have died. Elaborate and beautifully decorated skulls (calavera) made of sugar have been traced back to the 18th century to represent the departed soul.

A decorated sugar skull has been stamped onto a copper circle. The edges of the disc are hammered and a sterling silver ear wire is soldered onto the back. The skull design is blackened and the metal is brightly polished.

The disk measures 1/2 inch (12.7 mm.) in diameter and the earring dangles just over an inch (27 mm.) from the top of the sterling silver earwire. The back has an artist mark. Wear them November 1-2 for Dios de los Muertos or anytime!
