Bakufu Ohno Wood Block Print Two Peonies and a Butterfly 1950 signed by the artist and printed by Kyoto Hanga-In, Japanese Wood Block Print

This beautiful Japanese Wood Block Print by Bakufu Ohno (1888 - 1976) is titled Two Peonies and Butterfly. This is an early print of this work, which was first printed in 1949. I acquired it with the Ohno "Iris" woodblock print also in the shop. Iris is a first printing and dated 1949. The pieces had matching frames. The piece is signed by the artist, and bears his seal. The publisher, Kyoto Hanga-In, has marked the piece in the left margin. This piece was printed on beautiful, pliable Japanese paper, and you can see the impressions of the blocks. Colors are lovely. I believe this piece is in excellent condition, but please assess photos and feel free to ask questions. This beautiful print offers the collector a chance to own an original and highly admired Ohno Wood Block Print in an early edition.

Condition: Beautiful vintage condition. The frames are in average vintage condition and have been repainted a few times. I removed the art from the frames in order to photograph well, and thus removed the paper from the back. If you want to keep the frames, they will need to be re-papered. The glass has some small amounts of paint on it. The frames are also backed with simple cardboard. I am happy to send photos of this, but did not include in the listing, assuming customers would prefer to access the art. The mat seems to have come with the art. It has a front and back and the art sits inside of it, so the art is not touching the cardboard. The mat itself seems to have been printed with a white geometric pattern. The mat has some spots, as shown. See photos they are part of the description. Questions welcome.
