One of a kind --A gorgeous white and shimmering silver heavy five-layered Art Deco tulle gown from the mid 1920s, completely restored to its original glamor. Lovely as an enchanting prom or ball gown or a mesmerizing wedding dress.

The bodice of this tulle gown is constructed of shiny and iridescent silk. The dress is lined in light cotton and closes on the side with hooks and eyes. The top of each shoulder is accentuated with airy wired "wings" made of fine linen and edged in silk for an angelic appearance. The Art Deco tulle skirt reaches almost to the floor and consists of FIVE layers of heavy white tulle with a hint of silver. The very light silver color is difficult to see in these pictures, but more photos can be provided. The back of the vintage tulle dress is accented with a wired "wings" ---compelling ethereal elegance. Any bride would be a breath-taking stand out in a wedding dress with this silver tint.

This vintage tulle dress is from the mid 1920s. The dress may have been worn by a ballerina in La Sylphide, one of the great romantic ballets performed around the world since 1836. Perhaps the dress was worn by the angelic and ethereal forest ballerina fairy who charms a young farmer. The fairy wings on the shoulders and back are reminiscent of that classic ballerina'a enchanting gown. Another theory is that this 1920s dress was inspired by iconic dancer Irene Castle who transformed the fashion world in the 1920s and 1930s. Many Art Deco designs are attributed to her.

This vintage Art Deco dress has no tags. It was most likely the work of a a professional dressmaker, commissioned by a wealthy Denver family.

Although this vintage 1920s dance or prom dress was in incredibly good condition when purchased at an estate sale, the most delicate areas of silk satin have been reinforced or replaced with matching fine silk from a wedding dress of the same time period. The tulle is all original and is not ripped. It is a mystery how it remained so perfect after all these years.

This vintage Art Deco tulle dress is now in perfectly wearable condition and ready for many more celebrations. It would be an breathtaking prom dress or an ethereal wedding dress. Rest assured, no other bride in the world will have this dress.

The vintage dress's bodice is boned with the boning ending just under the bust. The dress closes on the side with 8 original hooks and eyes which extend from the bodice past the waist and down into the tulle. The silk bodice is fully lined with both original and matching new light cotton. This dress is beautifully made --a layer of cotton extends down under the tulle for several inches to reinforce the area where the tulle meets the silk.

These measurements were taken on the outside the of the dress:

Waist: 27"
Length: 48"
Length from top to shoulder to center of waist:16"
Across front of dress at bust-line: 19"
Across back of dress at same height: 17"

This incredibly glamorous dress from the mid 1920s was professionally hand washed three times, and then dry cleaned to bring back of its original shine and glamor. The only indication of its age now is slight darkening of the light cotton lining, We made the decision not to replace the bodice lining in order to retain as much as possible of the dress's history. There is also a slight whisper of pink in a very small spot on one "wing" where a young woman -- so many decades ago - must have brushed her lipstick against the dress. We were able to remove most of the lipstick but that slight hint of color in one small spot remains---a reminder of the incredible history of this dress as it must have danced through the glamorous 1920s. The light stain is only detectable if you look very closely.

This 1920s dress is lovely example of vintage ethereal ball gowns. Perhaps it will become a part of your family's treasured history.
