A Royal Jubilee souvenir to celebrate Queen Victoria's 50 years on the British throne.
A pressed glass dish made by George Davidson of Gateshead, England in 1887 as part of a range of Jubilee souvenirs.

The base is decorated with the crown, the initials VR, the dates 1837 to 1887 all surrounded by laurel leaves. Around the side it reads "The Queen's Jubilee interspersed with a modified Maltese Cross motif.

Pressed glass does not usually catch the light like its more expensive cousin cut glass, but in this case the decoration is surprisingly reflective. The quality of the souvenir reflects the importance of the event.

Oval in shape, it measures 8"x 6" x 2". Unmarked at 125 years old!

Lovely for itself alone, the little bubbles within the glass sparkle attractively when they catch the light.

Boxed for safe transit.
