This porcelain mug is wheel thrown. After the foot was trimmed the handle, lips and tongue are formed and attached with porcelain paper clay (very sturdy stuff). Then after a few days of drying it goes into it's first firing called a bisque firing. This firing takes about 13 hours and reaches a temperature of 1888 degrees. It takes another day for the kiln to cool enough to open. Next it gets washed and the foot is waxed. Now comes the glazing. The glaze on this mug is "peaches and cream", the lips are pink and the tongue is very red. Three coats by brushing. Then back into the kiln for a cone 6 firing, which is about 8 hours and reaches a temperature of about 2200 degrees.
This mug is food, dishwasher, nuker and oven safe with care.
Holds 16 oz's, or about 1/2 liter.
Signed and dated.
