The images are of a 1937 Old Town Guide 18' CS Grade wood canvas canoe that I restored. This is a sample listing only! This particular boat is not for sale - it is being used to show what can be done with a tired old classic. This canoe was a real basket case - the "before" picture doesn't even begin to illustrate the issues it had. At some point in its life it was fiberglassed to hold it together. I removed the fiberglass, half the ribs were broken and needed to be replaced, half the planking was replaced, spliced both stems, new inwales, new decks, new outwales, stripped and refinished the interior, new canvas, filler, and paint, plus recaned the seats.

I have several classic canoes by Old Town, B.N. Morris, Kennebec and other builders that need restoration. If you're interested in commissioning the restoration of a classic wood canvas canoe please contact me using the custom request feature. We will discuss your desires and find a match from my inventory. A new listing will be created for your canoe in accordance with Etsy guidelines. Please keep in mind it takes a minimum of 3 months to complete a restoration depending on the degree of difficulty. Our current work load will determine the start date. A proper restoration is not something that gets rushed through the shop and we work on boats in the order in which we receive them to be fair to all.

Here are some examples of canoes I currently have in inventory:

1949 Old Town 18′ Otca AA grade. Needs refinishing and new canvas. Mahogany trim with half-ribs.

1952 Old Town 18′ Otca AA grade. Needs refinishing and new canvas. Mahogany trim with floor rack.

1929 Old Town 18′ Otca #99745 CS grade. Needs complete restoration.

1952 Old Town 16′ HW #158590 AA grade. Needs complete restoration but the all mahogany trim (AA) will make this a spectacular boat!

c. 1910 B.N. Morris 18′ #8435. Needs complete restoration.

c. 1915 B.N. Morris 18′ #13324. Needs complete restoration.

Completed cost depends on the age and condition of the canoe but typically runs from $3,500 to $5,000.

Delivery can be arranged if necessary either by myself or a carrier that specializes in hauling small boats. Cost will be determined based on your location and added to the price of the restored canoe.
