This is one of the earliest "Argus 75" cameras produced by the Michigan-based company after the discontinuation of the "Argoflex 75" in 1953 and before the introduction of the "75" in 1958. This camera was produced in February of 1953 as indicated by the stamp "5302" on the inside of the flash tray.

This highly popular Bakelite encased 75mm camera comes with its original brown leather carrying case, flash unit and instruction booklet. The camera advances properly as indicated by the red disk which still shows behind the lens when the Winding Knob is turned and disappears when the Shutter Release button is pressed. Both the Viewing Lens and the Taking Lens are clear and free of any scratches. However, I cannot confirm that this camera is fully operational.

The exterior of the camera is in excellent condition with only a few scratches to the front and flip-up metal plates, but there is no wear to any of the logos or text printed on the metal. The metal base, which screws onto the bottom of the Flash Unit where the batteries are inserted, is metal and some of its black paint has chipped away.

This wonderful camera would make an excellent gift for the photog in your life either as a display item or a chance to restore and reuse a piece of American manufacturing history.
