This skirt is a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art!

The textile comes from Bali, Indonesia and has been hand dyed and hand woven using the ikat method. This is genuine ikat, not a print! Ikat is a labor intensive art of weaving that involves dying each strand individually, then weaving them into stunning, vibrant patters which can be recognized from island to island, village to village

Textiles such as these are handwoven by the women, an ancient art typically passed down from mother to daughter. Part of the proceeds for the sale of this piece goes to support Threads of Life to keep this cultural art alive. http://www.threadsoflife.com/index.asp

The jeans used for this skirt have been recycled instead of going into the landfill, which is where they were destined! They were definitely someone's favorites and have some great fading and even have a hole which provides a peek at the textile below. The jeans are 'Lucky' brand and are very good quality.

The jean size marked in the jeans is: 6/28 (US 6, GB 8, EU 36, AU 10, Italy 40, Japan 9)

From experience I would say that if you like to wear jeans on your natural waist, then this sizing is fine, but if you like to wear your jeans a bit lower, then I would suggest being slightly smaller, say a size 4.

Waist measurements: 76cm (30in)
Length to bottom of skirt 36cm (14in)

Machine washable, wash in cold with only dark colors, lie flat to dry.
