Edouard Benedictus was a noted painter, writer, designer, composer and chemist. In 1924 he introduced a portfolio of designs for fabric and wallpaper. The dramatically vivid colors were created by the pochoir process with single layers of color added by hand to a lithograph using a stencil. This print is from an original portfolio hand colored by Jean Saude. The colors are rich, fresh and vibrant on a heavy creamy stock. The edges of this print show minor wear, there is a ½" tear near the bottom right hand corner in the border area, and both the upper and lower right side corners are missing. This is easily covered with a matte. The original print is much richer than my digital photos.
