Selling two original personally autographed 8 X 10 black and white glossy publicity studio photographs of Tex Ritter, who was a singing cowboy and movie and TV star. He was the father of John Ritter of "Three's Company" TV fame.

I saw him in Mankato as a youngster when he was performing with the Grand Old Opry at our local Armory. He was a gentleman of the old school who stayed on stage long after the show was over to visit with fans and sign autographed pictures like the two for sale here. As these came from an estate auction in Mankato, they may well have been signed at that show in 1962. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Ritter also was a movie star and TV personality in addition to being a country western singer. In 1961 he recorded "Hillbilly Heaven," the year before he appeared in Mankato. It started out with narration like this: "Last night, I dreamed I went to hillbilly heaven, and you know who greeted me at the gate? The cowboy-philosopher himself, Will Rogers." (Don't ask me what I did yesterday, though.)

In 1974, Tex Ritter went to Hillbilly Heaven himself when he died of a heart attack. He is buried at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. Adios, Tex.

These signed studio photos are outstanding additions to an autographed celebrity collection, vintage celebrity collection, country western collection, or movie, radio, and TV personality collection. Both selling for one money, with free shipping anywhere in the USA. Domestic sale only.
