Each one of these medals, which measures 1cm (.39") in diameter without the loops, shows Saint John Vianney, the patron saint of priests, on one side, and Saint Philomena, a 4th century Greek princess who was martyred, on the other.

Saint John Vianney (8 May 1786 – 4 August 1859) attributed all the miracles that were attributed to him to Saint Philomena, whose bones were found in the 19th century, during Vianney's lifetime.
