Grotto: vivid golden and aqua greens with dark olive and teal tones, and a hint of turquoise blue.

This listing is for 4oz of American silksheep light brown combed top that I immersion dyed in September 2010

What do you get when a spinner starts breeding sheep to satisfy her own spinning preferences? American silksheep; long, lustrous, very soft fiber with lots of crimp. I'm happy to say it also takes dye beautifully. This breed and its unique fiber is locally bred in New Jersey. I purchase the prepared fiber directly from the shepherd at the Garden State Sheep Breeder's festival every September and dye it in small batches. I am very excited to make it available here.

This top began as a natural pale brown. I have loosely finger crocheted it into a chain to keep it neat. This top is irregular in diameter, so the chain is uneven.

I've finger spun a little from a scoured lock and find this breed very easy to spin even for someone at my novice level. A spinner friend tells me it reminds her a bit of spinning BFL.
