Plantable paper is biodegradable and made entirely from post-consumer waste (no trees were harmed to make any of my products!) and is embedded with a mixture of wildflower seeds. Use them as place cards at your southwestern wedding, as favors at a cowboy-themed event or at any eco-friendly desert celebration.

This listing is for 20 cacti — 10 in terra-cotta, 10 in turquoise — measuring approximately 4 inches in height. If you would like a hole punched and a piece of white cotton string added, I am happy to do it for no extra charge.

Each order comes with the following playful planting instructions:
In this paper, little seeds lay asleep,
Waiting to be planted in soil 1/4 inch deep.
Water well then keep moist for 4 to 6 weeks.
Until little plants come out of the soil for a peek.
Many flowers will share their colors to the max.
Like purple cone flower, red poppy and blue flax!

I have been making paper by hand since 1992 and am proud of the caliber of my product. I buy only the freshest, highest quality seeds — I never use hand-gathered seeds that might not pass quality control standards. Every batch of paper gets a generous scoop, ensuring the most germination possible. I use the best scraps that I can find, saturated with color. I never use dyes or bleaches to create my paper.

This paper has been made using recycled paper more than 40 wildflower seeds. These seeds can be planted in conditions ranging from full sun to half shade, and in soils from sandy, clay or acidic to moist or dry. Flowers will happily bloom from the Northeast to the Southwest. Take a look at the last photo to see an example of my seeded paper sprouting!

-----------> Here's all the "dirt" on my plantable papers!
STORING YOUR PAPER: Store your paper in any cool (not freezing), dry area that is not subject to extreme variations in temperature and humidity. Some products come packaged in an acid-free plastic envelope. If you will not be using your plantable paper right away, open the packaging so the seeds can breathe. For best germination, you should plant your paper within 12-18 months of purchase.

PLANTING YOUR PAPER: To force your plantable paper indoors, moisten the paper until damp but not wet, put in a plastic jar and cover with plastic wrap. Place in a warm, sunny window and you will see little seedlings in about 2 weeks! If planting outdoors, wait until all danger of frost has passed, then rake the soil, scatter the paper onto the soil, cover with 1/4 inch of topsoil, water and keep moist until germination, approximately 6 to 8 weeks.

Frequently asked questions about PulpArt

I ship every day, Monday through Friday, via USPS First Class mail. I wait until the afternoon to take orders to the post office to capture as many orders as I can. (But I will go early in the day if my customer has a time issue like an Express Mail drop-off.) So it may take as long as 24 hours for your package to be shipped but it is often much less. And if you want to know a little secret, I live within walking distance from a post office so sometimes, and especially on nice days or if I have an errand to run, I will make a second trip to mail something if I get a sale late in the day. I often ship on Saturdays, even though I officially say that I ship Monday through Friday.
I do not wholesale my plantable products but I do wholesale my Petal People pressed flower art cards. Please inquire for more information.
Because of customs regulations for shipping live seeds to other countries, I do not offer international shipping on my plantable products but do ship my Petal People cards internationally.
Because I get so many donation requests, I have had to limit those charities to whom I donate. I now only donate locally, and to companies and charities with whom my family is directly involved.
Yes! However, I am very selective who I give my products to, and I don't give them very often. I will need proof of a certain amount of consistent readership, as well as evidence of cross-promotion on social media, and a well-established presence in either the crafting world, wedding market or another audience that hits my target customer base.
When I package up an order, I print a shipping label in my studio. Once the label is printed, an email is automatically sent with tracking info, but your package has not been shipped yet. When I drop off the package at the post office, it is scanned with the postal gun. The postal folks don't transfer that information from the gun to their computer system until after 5 pm when they upload the scans into their computer. It can still take a few more hours for tracking info to appear on the website. If you have been sent an email with tracking but it isn't showing up, just check back a few hours later or the next day.
