Exquisite. Elegant. You can apply all the superlatives to this delicate pair of Bavarian porcelain demitasse cups and saucers. They are marked "Hutschenreuther Arzberg" with the crown mark used by the company between 1918 and 1945. Their distinctly Art Deco styling indicate that they were produced sometime in the late 1920s to early 1930s.

The translucent white porcelain bodies are decorated with a highly stylized, hand-painted calla lily motif. My research does not reveal the specific pattern, but this type of brushwork and the elongated handle are typical of Hutschenreuther.

Cups measure 2 1/4 inches in diameter, 2 1/8 inches tall. Saucers are 4 3/8 inches in diameter. They are in outstanding condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There are some very minor, pin dot inclusions in the glaze (one is visible in the first photo on the interior of the cup).

You'll definitely want to hold your pinky out as you sip from these beauties. (Sorry, the spoons are not included. Convo me if you are interested in purchasing them separately).

Thank you for flying with The Magpie!
