This one of a kind work is part of a series of snails that have various houses on their backs instead of a shell. This one was inspired by a photograph of an old mechanic's shack in a country town in Gippsland, Australia, taken by Warren Kirk.

I am interested in history, how we read things to make meaning, and anthropomorphism. I love making up strange combinations just to see what happens.

The snail has been lovingly painted onto found plywood using acrylic paint. It has been hand cut and sandpapered and stands at about 8 inches (20 cm) high and about 10.75 inches (27 cm) wide. The snail would be happy to live the corner of a sideboard, table, or bookshelf.
