This is a very cool manual of leading expertise for eye diseases and disorders at the turn of the century written by Charles May MD, published in 1924, 11 edition by William Wood and Company. 374 original illustrations including 23 plates and 73 colored figures. 445 pages. (That's almost an illustration for every page!) Dark Greenish Black cloth hard bound. Book measures 5.5 x 8 x 1.5 inches. Wear to spine and board ends. Medical Digest article on burns of the eye pasted on inside cover dated 1935. Previous owners name and notes written on front dust page dated to 1926. Front and back dust sheets show splitting from cover which has not harmed the integrity of the book or it's binding. Pages slightly yellowed. A couple turned corners and a couple pencil marks. One figure plate is loose and has damage to the edges otherwise all pages are present. Regardless of what little damage I've found, this book is in good condition especially in light of it being a text book from the 1920s. It's worth the price for the wealth of pictures. Fun conversation piece. Great addition to the antique medical library or fascinating read for any optometrists.
