This haunted house shadow box features the parlor of an old house haunted by the ghosts of children who lost their way and fell victim to the zombie children living there.

At the end of a lonely dirt road is a house; empty abandoned with broken windows and tattered curtains fluttering in chilled breezes. If you dare get close enough to peek in you may see the ghost of children long disappeared their pale faces framed in window panes. Worse, you may see Joseph and June the siblings who still creep through the dusty rooms waiting for a curious victim to stumble into their parlor. There is a picture of father on the wall and depending on where you stand you can see him as he was or as he is. Rats scurry through the room running over bare toes nibbling at the eye sockets in a discarded pile of skulls. June’s dolls are scattered around the floor. The cross that the siblings’ mother hung to ward off the evil she saw has lasted far longer than she did. The glass table with its frayed and torn table cloth black and gray with grime holds what’s left of her; useful to her children even in the end. You may notice a shelf holding trinkets the children favor, shells, a mirror and an old book. If you overlook the cobwebs and stains, you will notice a purple vine pattern wall paper. There is a weathered picket fence still standing around most of the house. You would be wise to keep out of it. Joseph and June are waiting it’s been awhile since they’ve had any visitors and they are hungry.

I created this shadow box with a wood box painted black and dry brushed with gray paint. I constructed a roof and added an attic window with a face looking out of it. The sides each have a wooden window frame with a child’s face peering out and cloth curtains peeking out. The sides and back have a wooden picket fence attached to them. There are also two bats along the back under a spider web paper eve. The box rests on four round wood legs. The inside has been papered with a torn and distressed paper for the walls and an inked paper for the floor. This shadow box will look great displayed on a table or open shelf since there is something to see from every angle.

Approximate Dimensions: 8”H x 8”W x 3”D
