Very interesting! I'm guessing this is some sort of homemade contraption cobbled together from things that were readily available in the workshop - a 'make-do' of sorts! The rainwater holder seems to be the reservoir for the oil to light the gas lamp fitting, which has a cotton wick. Some clever mind decided to marry these two pieces together to create a unique, functional (?) lamp.

Measures 3.5” wide by 4.5” deep by 3.5” tall. It is stamped 'Rainwater' on the upright holder, and 'L K Oakes, pat. Feb 17, 1903' on the wick turn piece. Good vintage condition.

I am happy to ship internationally - please convo me for a quote if your country is not listed.
