WAS $125! This is a fabulous Alpacca Hoka-also referred to as Alpaca Hoka-piece! The high relief German tavern scene on the front is extremely ornate--quite unusual to see one this highly detailed. Everything about this is original, including the original elastic bands. It is a very collectible item.

It was used to hold cigarettes (think of the movies that showed gentlemen plucking a cigarette from a case such as this). One side holds king size length cigarettes, and the other holds non filter length cigarettes.

The exterior of the case is German silver. German silver is an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. The interior has elastic bands to hold the cigarettes in place. The inside metal is gold vermeil, which is a gold plating process. The back of the case is smooth German silver.

The condition of this antique is wonderful, as the photos indicate. The latch (marked Alpacca Hoka) and hinges work beautifully. The tarnish has been removed and the case is ready to be used!

Tobacciana items are becoming harder to find, especially ones in excellent condition. Because our society now has many anti-smoking laws, fewer people smoke cigarettes. Beautiful cases such as this can still be used for different purposes, if so desired. They can hold business cards, paper money, and other items. It is a piece of history that can easily be incorporated into today's use.
